The Job

A successful Social Media Manager possesses a combination of creativity, strategic thinking, and analytical skills, along with a deep understanding of social media platforms and their audiences. Effective communication and the ability to adapt to changing trends are also crucial for success in this role.

Key Responsibilities

  • Strategy Development

    • Develop a comprehensive social media strategy that aligns with overall business goals and objectives.

    • Identify target audiences and create content that engages and resonates with them.

    • Stay updated on industry trends and incorporate new social media features and platforms into the strategy.

  • Content Creation and Curation

    • Create and curate engaging and shareable content for various social media platforms, including text, images, and videos.

    • Develop a content calendar to ensure a consistent posting schedule.

    • Monitor trending topics and incorporate them into the content strategy when relevant.

  • Analytics and Reporting

    • Monitor and analyse social media metrics to measure the effectiveness of campaigns and strategies.

    • Provide regular reports on key performance indicators (KPIs) and use insights to optimise future campaigns.

    • Adjust strategies based on data-driven insights to improve overall performance.

  • Social Media Advertising

    • Develop and execute paid social media advertising campaigns to reach specific target audiences.

    • Manage advertising budgets effectively and optimise campaigns for maximum return on investment (ROI).

  • Collaboration

    • Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including marketing, public relations, and customer service, to ensure a cohesive brand message across all channels.

    • Work with influencers and brand advocates to expand the brand's reach.

  • Stay Informed on Social Media Trends

    • Keep up-to-date with the latest trends and innovations in social media marketing.

    • Experiment with new features and formats to keep the brand's social media presence fresh and engaging.

  • Team Leadership

    • Hire, Lead and manage a team of social media professionals, including content creators, community managers, and analysts.

    • Provide guidance, mentorship, and support to team members.

  • Task Delegation

    • Delegate tasks and responsibilities based on team members' strengths and expertise.

    • Ensure that team members are assigned tasks that align with their skill sets.

  • Training and Development

    • Provide ongoing training to team members on social media best practices, platform updates, and industry trends.

    • Foster a culture of continuous learning within the team.

  • Performance Management

    • Set clear performance expectations and goals for team members.

    • Conduct regular performance evaluations and provide constructive feedback.

    • Recognise and reward team members for achievements.

  • Communication

    • Establish effective communication channels within the team.

    • Conduct regular team meetings to discuss strategy, share updates, and address challenges.

  • Innovation and Creativity

    • Encourage a culture of innovation and creativity within the team.

    • Provide space for team members to contribute ideas and experiment with new approaches.


About You

  • You have at least 5 years of experience in a similar role in the e-Commerce industry.

  • Bachelor's degree in Marketing, Communications, Business, or a related field.

  • Proven experience as a Social Media Manager or in a similar role.

  • In-depth knowledge of social media platforms, trends, and best practices.

  • Strong leadership and team management skills.

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

  • Analytical mindset with the ability to interpret data and derive actionable insights.

  • Creative thinking and problem-solving abilities.

  • Familiarity with social media advertising platforms and tools.

  • Ability to work in a fast-paced and dynamic environment.
